Completing Cloud Platform Tasks

The process of completing Outstanding Tasks for cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud is nearly identical to the process for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Once you have identified which task you would like to manage, select the Review button.

Let's look at the task below as an example. This task requires users to ensure that CloudTrail logging is enables for all regions currently in use.

This page is identical to the standard task review page, but there are a few key differences that are important to cover. As normal, you are presented will several options for this Outstanding Task, these being Fix this for me, Add to manual list, and Out of Scope or Mark as Complete (contained within the ellipsis button). Let's go through each of these available options.

Fix this for me

This button is slightly different to the standard automated approach. Once selected, you will be presented with a CLI Command that you can then copy using the button shown below, and paste into the console/terminal of the relevant cloud platform. This code will then carry out the necessary steps to align your environment with this particular task.

The end result of this process is the same. Your business will now be compliant with this requirement and its associated controls, there is just an extra step required due to the bespoke and complex nature of cloud platforms.

Note: In some cases, there will be no code available. If this happens, you should carry out the manual remediation steps, as this task cannot be automated.

Add to manual list

This option remains unchanged. Selecting this button will move this Outstanding Task into your Manual Task Queue where you can then carry out the manual steps provided in the Task Details & Manual Steps area.

Ellipsis button

The Ellipsis button contains several options, these being Out of Scope and Mark as Complete
Out of scope: Selecting this option will open a new window, prompting you to explain why you believe this task to no longer be relevant to your compliance efforts. You can learn more about outscoping tasks by clicking here.
Mark as Complete: By marking a task as complete, you are confirming that you have either copied, pasted, and ran the associated CLI command, or you have followed the outlined manual steps. This will move the task from, your Outstanding Tasks list, and into the Task History area. If you have not completed the task correctly, it will be flagged by the platform during the next compliance scan.
