Understanding Task Dependencies

When selecting the Review option on a task, as shown below, the side-window that opens may have a yellow banner warning of a Task Dependency.

Example of a task dependency

Certain Technical tasks will have requirements that must be met before they can be completed. These are known as Task Dependencies, as the task is dependant on an additional factor. In the example provided above, the task Disable 'Insecure guest logons' in Server Message Block (SMB) requires the disabling of SMBv1 Server Support in order to complete successfully.

Selecting the Fix this for me option on a task that has an active dependency will automatically complete both the main task, and any dependencies associated with it. All other task options, such as Assign Task will operate as normal.

Note: If a task you wish to complete manually has an active dependency, you must ensure that you complete the associated tasks before following the manual steps in the main task.

If you wish to view the dependency before completing it, click the Review option next to the task to open a new side-window for that task.
